FIRE SAFETY POLICY & PROCEDURES

A fire risk assessment is your first step to managing fire safety, and having a robust fire safety policy and procedures will ensure continued compliance. The policy should comprise:

  • Statement of Intent - What the organisation intends to achieve in relation to fire safety, and detail their objectives, targets and goals
  • Organisational Responsibility - Who is responsible for what in relation to fire safety within the organisation.
  • Arrangements for Implementation - The procedures and instructions for compliance – e.g. action plan for risk assessment findings, evacuation procedures, managing equipment, period inspections
  • Training - Should be provided to ensure the policy is implemented and understood, and those with specific responsibilities should receive any additional training to undertake their duties
