An effective fire emergency plan will ensure the people in your premises know what to do if there is a fire. The plan is based on the outcome of your fire risk assessment and should be recorded. The plan will describe:
- How people will be warned in the event of a fire
- What to do if you discover a fire in the building
- How an evacuation will be carried out, and subsequent assembly areas
- Procedures for recording people onsite, and checks following an evacuation
- Escape routes and diagrams
- Specific arrangements for the site
- General contingency and arrangements planning
