Below is a summary of the water related services we are able to offer:
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
A commercial EPC provides an energy rating for a building which is based on the performance potential of that building. Services such as lighting, heating and ventilation are taken into account as well as the way in which these services are controlled and managed. The industry standard A to G energy rating will be provided on the certificate reflecting the intrinsic energy performance standard of the building relative to a benchmark.
Do you require an EPC?
As of the 1st October 2008 sellers and landlords are required by law to provide an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for all buildings or parts of buildings when they are sold or rented. Those carrying out the construction of a building will be required to provide an EPC to the owner. An Energy Performance Certificate gives prospective buyers or tenants information on the energy efficiency and carbon emissions of a building which is essential in the modern climate for buyers and tenants to assess and establish efficiencies, cost reduction and achieving a low carbon footprint.
How do you get an EPC?
Only accredited buildings energy assessors are allowed to issue you with an Energy Performance Certificate and Recommendation Report. AH Allen have registered assessors and partners who are trained and qualified to the highest standards to assess the recommendation report and amend recommendations where appropriate. This makes the report much more bespoke to your specific needs. Our experience in commercial property and energy assessment methods allows us to offer the very best and most up to date information and services in line with current legislation and best practice.
Display Energy Certificates (DECs)
Display Energy Certificates provide the building occupier with an illustrated certificate highlighting the actual energy consumption over a year period, which is then broken down into CO2 emissions and compared to a benchmark figure and graded on an Industry Standard Scale from A to G.
Do you require a DEC?
Since the 1st October 2008 as part of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive you will legally require a DEC if your building is occupied by a public authority or an institution providing a public service to a large number of people and has a total useful area greater than 1000m2. Examples of buildings affected include council buildings, schools, leisure centres, hospitals and libraries, etc.
You may choose to have a DEC as part of your energy efficiency management programme in order to recognise your existing current and potential energy efficiency and raise awareness amongst your staff.
Benefits of a DEC
- Compliance with legal requirements and avoidance of a £1,500.00 fine
- Raise public awareness of energy use and encourage the reduction of energy
- Improved energy efficiency and ultimately cost savings
How do you get a DEC?
Only accredited buildings energy assessors are allowed to issue you with a Display Energy Certificate and Advisory Report. AH Allen have a team of registered assessors and partners who are highly experienced and qualified to provide this.
Foot Printing
Supply Chain Foot Printing
Did you know the majority of your environmental impacts result from the goods and services you buy? These are often four or more times the size of your own footprint - and can be up to 40 times the size, depending on the nature of your operations.
Our approach
AH Allen provide a unique, cost effective and systematic approach to supply chain environmental impact measurement and reduction.
Our unique approach of using business and expenditure information that you already routinely maintain, means you can measure your supply chains environmental impacts in weeks rather than a lengthy review process being undertaken.
In partnership with the world's largest and most comprehensive database of corporate environmental impacts, supported by our patented data modelling techniques, we can calculate vital priority areas for your supply chain footprint - saving time and ensuring minimum disruption to your operations.
Prioritising your impacts
Our database enables us to quickly rank your suppliers according to their contribution to your supply chain footprint: experience tells us that around 10% of your suppliers will be responsible for around 90% of your supply chain impacts.
We will also identify which environmental impacts are most material to your supply chain. From carbon and other greenhouse gases, to water, waste, metals and chemicals.
Engaging & supporting your suppliers
To facilitate efficient data validation across multiple suppliers, we'll manage the process and provide a pre-populated, secure, online portal so your suppliers need only enter the best data they have available.
The data collection portal provides an ongoing management framework for you and your suppliers to monitor progress in reducing your environmental impacts by enabling your suppliers to update their information at any time.
We'll provide each of your suppliers with a report summarising their environmental footprint and identifying the most efficient opportunities for them to reduce their impacts. We'll also enable your suppliers to securely share their environmental data with other customers through our online portal, minimising environmental "questionnaire fatigue".
Why measure?
Measuring your supply chain impacts identifies important opportunities to optimise your operations - in terms of both cost and efficiency and demonstrate solid environmental credentials to your customers, staff, investors and other stakeholders.
By identifying the priority areas, AH Allen enables you to work closely with the suppliers that contribute the most to your overall footprint, helping them efficiently measure and reduce their most material environmental impacts.
And with climate change regulations being introduced to reduce environmental impacts across the world's major economies, now is the time to protect your organisation from the financial risk of suppliers passing on costs from "polluter pays" initiatives.

If you are a Local Authority, our Supply Chain Footprint will assist your statutory requirements to LA operations CO2 reduction.
Auditing
It is critical to costs, regulatory pressures and company reputation to ensure your business is energy efficient.
AH Allen have the experience in auditing all types of operations, large and small, from commercial offices to large industrial plants.
Our energy specialists are able to cover all aspects of an organisation's operations, including its property, logistics, utility systems, production processes and technology. Through site audits and interpreting data we can tell you where energy is being wasted, where building systems aren't balanced and ultimately improve building and process efficiency to reduce costs.
To further understand your organisation, AH Allen are able to install or retro-fit our uniquely designed half-hourly SMART Meters, (Opti-Pulse GMS meter) that will produce in-depth data records of your energy processes.
We will highlight prioritised energy reduction and efficiency solutions, including relatively quick and easy solutions such as re-setting existing equipment to run more efficiently, and more long term changes through capital investment initiatives such as building onsite renewable energy facilities. Fundamentally our audits aim to reduce energy demands and deliver reductions in emissions outputs. This reduces costs, helps meets corporate objectives and delivers regulatory compliance.
