Redhills exceed Environmental Targets in 2009
Leading environmental management consultants, Redhills, are pleased to announce that they have achieved and exceeded all environmental targets that were set in 2009.
Redhills aims to meet targets in order to help the environment and have achieved the following for 2009:
Vechicle Co2 Emissions
Total vehicle co2 emissions have been reduced from 11,382g/km in 2008 to 10,534g/km in 2009. This represents a decrease of approximately 7.5%. Redhills target for this period was a 5% reduction.
Building Energy Use
Building energy use has been difficult to calculate as some offices have changed locations or use and a like for like comparison is not possible. However, Redhills achieved an overall reduction in Gas usage of about 7% - 2008 12,510kw.to 2009 11,644kw. Redhills target for this period was a 5% reduction.
Recycling and Waste Disposal
All Laboratory waste continues to be disposed of correctly by Licensed Waste Carriers. During 2009, Redhills saved 99 trees, this is an increase from 82 in 2008. These figures are for the Newdigate and Cardiff offices, both of which are serviced by Shred-It. There are no figures available for general re-cycling; however Redhills continue to promote the re-cycling of all waste materials.
Redhills objectives and targets for 2010 consist of the following:
1. Continual commitment to Environmental issues with the newly appointed QHSE Manager taking the lead role in implementing and monitoring all areas of Environmental awareness.
2. A further reduction in our Building Energy use of 5%. Through staff awareness, induction and Refresher training.
3. A further 5% reduction in vehicle Co2 Emissions through driver awareness and vehicle fleet modernization. Six new Hyundi i30 cars to enter service in April 2010. These having a 119g/km will replace existing vehicles with much higher emission levels.
4. Review re-cycling facilities within the offices and provide an easier system for the re-cycling of general waste.
5. Communication of our commitment to Environmental awareness to Clients, Staff and the public by Web site, company Blog and the intranet.
