19/04/2007 - HSE to Evaluate Section 4 Control of Asbestos Regulations
The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) have commenced a major review of the impact of the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) section 4, the duty to manage asbestos in non domestic premises.
The evaluation commenced April 2007 with 5000 visits planned by inspectors to premises across England and Wales. What this means to organisations is inspectors will review what measures organisations have introduced to ensure they meet the requirements of section 4 of CAR and evidence of action plans being implemented.
Section 4 the duty to manage asbestos in non domestic premises came into effect on 21st May 2004. HSE support for section 4 was principally on the research that it would help to save some 4700 lives from asbestos related death.
