28/11/2006 - Tower Crane Safety Alert Issued

Following a number of serious incidents involving tower crane failures, notably the recent tragic incident at Battersea, HSE has issued a safety alert on the use of tower cranes.

The HSE alert is aimed at those with responsibilities to manage cranes, their safe erection, operation, maintenance and dismantling, it draws attention to recent augmentation of guidance publications by British Standards, CPA and CIRIA, and its ongoing programme of visits to tower crane companies' sites and head office visits.
