Surveying

AH Allen asbestos removal team

In line with current legislation and approved codes of practice, A. H. Allen can undertake surveys in order to help a business or organisation become legal and safe.

There are three types of survey which can be undertaken the result of which is the issuing of a comprehensive report which details suspected or identified Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs). The report also contains recommendations on how those materials should be managed and is the ideal starting point by which an organisation can meet legal requirements.

Type I Survey
Also known as a presumptive survey the locations of suspected asbestos within a building are documented and registered. However, because no sampling occurs there is a possibility that materials that do not contain asbestos are managed as if they do making it a less accurate form of surveying.

Type II Survey
A type II or standard sampling or non destructive survey expands further from a type I survey by sampling and identifying materials through analysis and is the most commonly undertaken type of survey.

Type III Survey
The type III or destructive / pre-demolition / major refurbishment survey requires a thorough investigation of all materials within the building. This must be undertaken before any demolition or refurbishment work is carried out on a building in order to prevent the uncontrolled spread of asbestos materials.
